The 16-year-old from Munlochy claimed victory in Glasgow by 150 points when she came out on top in the five event-discipline which involves long jump, high jump, hurdles, shot put and 800 metres.

The fifth year Fortrose Academy pupil, from Munlcohy, says she was delighted with her performance which led to her taking the overall title.

“I was pleased with my long jump as I was just a little behind my personal best and I was not too far behind my personal best in the shot put,” said Fraser.

“But I was happy to make up the points overall and take the win.

“It is definitely up there with one of my best achievements in my athletics career so far.”

Fraser first started in athletics when she was nine and took up the sport competitively at 13-years-old.

She has competed at Scottish and British level and has competed in individual events at Scottish school level which she is looking to do again during 2022.

She says she enjoys the multi-event aspect of pentathlon as well as heptathlon.

Now she is looking to improve her performances in each of the disciplines during 2022.

“I like the variety of competing in different events and able to focus on different events than just one, but it does make it difficult with the training,” said Fraser.

“I have one indoor competition left at the Scottish Schools Championship and then look to do well in the outdoors and do a few more national events outdoors this year.

“I will be looking to go for personal bests next week when I compete in the 300 metres hurdles and in the long jump.“
