Inverness Harriers athlete Mhairi Maclennan wins bronze at British Cross Challenge in Belfast

KIRKHILL athlete Mhairi Maclennan won bronze at the British Cross Challenge in Northern Ireland last weekend.

The Inverness Harriers athlete crossed the line in a time of 27 minutes and seven seconds at Belfast.

She was 23 seconds behind race winner Hellen Obiri from Kenya who claimed gold in a time of 26:44.

Hannah Irwin from Northern Ireland was three seconds ahead of Maclennan to claim silver in a time of 27:04.

Fellow Inverness Harriers athlete Megan Keith was the fastest under-23 athlete on the day and claimed fifth place overall in the senior race with a time of 27:25.

Meanwhile at the Scottish Athletics Indoor Championships, Sinclair Patience won bronze after finishing third in the shot put with 14 metres 62 centimetres.

Sean Radabaugh also competed in the shot put with a throw of 9.45m.

Zak Fearn competed in the long jump recording five metres 39 centimetres and in the 60 metres ran 7:39.
