Inverness Harrier claims bronze at Scottish indoor 3000m championship Miler Meet

Inverness Harriers athlete Stephen Mackay claimed a bronze medal at the Scottish indoor 3000m championship Miler Meet in Glasgow on Friday. He finished in third place with a time eight minutes and 13.60 seconds which was just outside his personal best 8:13.19.

Ben McMillian of Central Athletic Club and Stirling University proved too good for the chasing pack as he cruised to victory with a time of 8:02.47.

Jack Patton from Kilbrachan was in second place in a time of 8:07.71.

In the women’s race, Eloise Walker proved her class – and her versatility – with a superb Scottish Championship gold over 3000 metres.

She clocked a personal best of 8:56.77 takes Eloise to seventh place in the Scottish all-time list for women’s 3000 metres indoors.

Megan Davies of Sale took the silver with bronze for Sarah Tait of Lasswade.

Corey Campbell claimed a Scottish Under-20 record to win in his category.

The Team East Lothian athlete clocked 8:13.97 to take five seconds of the previous best indoor mark at Under-20.

Giffnock North’s Cameron Deverill took the silver in 8:28.08 with the bronze headed for Andrew McGill of Glasgow Uni at 8:29.88.

Meredith Reid of Inverclyde AC won the Women’s U20 gold with a run of 9:40.57.

The silver was headed to Fife and Pitreavie AAC athlete, Maya Millar, after she clocked 10:32.86 with the bronze bound for Glasgow University’s Flora Henry (10:50.17).

There was a close race for the medals in the Women’s U17 category. Kilbarchan AAC duo Amy Teasdale and Zara Redmond were only separated by seven hundredths with Amy taking the gold in 9:49.45.

The U17 Men’s gold was won by Oliver Patton of Kilbarchan AAC as he clocked 8:38.34.
