Inverness gymnasts impress at competitions across Britain

INVERNESS Gymnastics Club have made a big impression at competitions across Britain.
Last month, 28 gymnasts made the trip to Perth to compete in the Scottish Floor and Vault Competition against teams from 27 Scottish clubs.
Two Inverness gymnasts won medals. Ava Considine in the nine years intermediate finished third, and Ellie Cumming in the over-14 beginners finished second. Cumming also won second place on floor and vault, with Eilidh Cummins finishing third on floor in the 11-years intermediate.
Considine’s team mates Ava MacInnes and Sienna Kellacher claimed first and third on floor respectively and with Emma Turner and Grace Mackenzie, their team finished in second place.
In Newcastle, senior men’s gymnast Joshua Talbot-Heigh was the first gymnast from the north to enter a men’s artistic voluntary competition and finished third on floor, vault and high bar.
Inverness Gymnastics Club hosted the Highland Floor and Vault Competition, which saw 350 gymnasts compete. Stand out performances from Olivia Kerr, Sarah Macdonald, Ethan Foxcroft, Killian Griffin and Jack Finnigan saw them each take overall gold in their respective categories. Kerr competing in the 10/11 advanced category won second place on floor and vault whilst teammate Emily Renton took second overall and first on floor.
In the over-12 advanced category, Macdonald also took first on floor, with teammate Leah Callander second on floor and third overall. Leona Watson third on vault and together with Lucy Ferguson the team took gold.
Foxcroft won first on vault and second on floor with Liam King taking a trio of bronze medals on floor, vault and overall. Griffin placed first on floor and third on vault with Struan Fraser finishing first on vault, second on floor and overall Finnigan added to his first place overall by taking golds on floor and vault.
