The 27-year-old telecoms engineer defeated Darren Nicholson on the final hole to claim the trophy.

Black, who joined the golf club in 2019, says he had to hold his nerve in the final against Nicholson.

But he was absolutely thrilled to claim the trophy for the first time.

“This is my first championship final at the club after three years of being a member,” said Black.

“I made the semi finals in the previous two years.

“I think it is my fifth or sixth semi final of club championships over the years throughout previous memberships at clubs.

“So I am thankful to finally have made a final.”

Black started the final in excellent form as he managed to gain an early advantage.

But Nicholson fought back to set up a tense finish.

“I played well in the round early on and took an early lead until Darren came back fighting on the back nine.

“So I was glad to get over the line on the 18th.”
Black was delighted to secure his maiden championship and hopes it will be the first of many more tilts for the trophy and successes in years to come.

“It is first club championship win, so I am delighted to finally get one and hope to add to it over the next few years,” he added.

The men’s handicap was won by club greenkeeper Darren Cumming who beat Ally Ross.

The senior handicap was won by David Gibb with Kevin Barnett crowned scratch champion.

Kate Bartlett won the ladies scratch championship against Krista Allan.

Margaret Mackay won the handicap championship beating Christine Marshall in the final.

The junior club championship was held as an 18-hole handicap strokeplay event with Owen Laird taking the title.
