Inverness Athletic can push on now after ending their winless streak, according to manager Jason Golabek.
He watched his side win their first North Caledonian League win in two months with a 4-2 victory over Bonar Bridge at Dornoch hoping it could be the start of a winning run, but Golabek admitted it was anything but straightforward.
“It wasn’t pretty football, but it was nice to get the three points,” said Golabek.
“It took us 30 minutes to break them down, they were a stuffy team. In fact we could have been a couple of goals behind before we scored, they missed a few chances themselves.”
Golabek hopes the win will give his players a much needed boost for the league clash at Thurso.
“The win will put a spring in the step,” he said.
“As long as we have the same squad we should be able to give it a good go up there.”
Dominick Edwards broke the deadlock against Bonar on the half hour mark hen he was left with a tap-in from a Seamus McConaghy cross.
Phil MacDonald doubled the lead six minutes later, but Athletic had a long wait until the 80th minute for their third goal.
MacDonald was on target again with a crisp header from another McConaghy delivery.
Jack MacLean, one of Athletic’s on-loan players from Nairn County, scored his first goal for the club shortly afterwards,
Adam Mackay scored two consolation goals in stoppage time for Bonar Bridge.
