THREE Inverness drivers made up the final top 10 after battling the wintry conditions at the Brick and Steel Border Counties Rally in Jedburgh.

In the second of the ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship, it was Banchory’s Quintin Milne who eventually prevailed after he was fatest through three of the four stages — the third being cancelled because of snow and access problems.

There was a fifth place for Donnie MacDonald and his co-driver Andrew Falconer, both of Inverness, and they were the highest finishers from the Highland Capital.

Inverness crew Dougal Brown and Lewis Rochford cross the line in ninth overall — a good result given the conditions, according to Brown.

"We finished in a very respectable ninth place overall and eighth in the Scottish Rally Championship points," he said.

"This was a great start to the season with an excellent number of points on the leaderboard after the first round."

Andy Horne (Inverness) and co-driver Jim Howie (Kilmarnock) were not too far behind as they completed the leading 10 finishers.

Meanwhile, Ross Macdonald, from Conon Bridge, with Matthew Johnstone (Inverness) on the notes, took top honours in class two in their Vauxhall Corsa.
