Highland Disability Sport marked its 40th anniversary by honouring two of its coaches who have worked for the organisation for decades.
Peter Corbett and Isobel Reid both received life membership awards at Highland Disability Sport for the years of service to the organisation at its ceremony last Saturday.
Corbett, who works as a coach, first became involved with HDS in 1993, and is still providing support for his football squad, Highland United.
Some players under his wing went on to compete on the world stage in the Special Olympic Great Britain teams which he managed for the Team Highland Special Olympics Squads.
Reid has been involved with HDS since the early 1980s – first as a parent taking her daughter to events, and latterly as the head coach for indoor and outdoor bowling.
HDS chairwoman Janet Home says the hard work and dedication both of them have given deserves to be recognised and were worthy recipients of lifetime membership.
She said: “The two of them have worked tirelessly over the years to ensure that their athletes have coaching and support, as well as the opportunities to compete at all levels of their sports.”
“HDS is indebted to many individuals, clubs, organisations and external bodies who work with us to ensure we can deliver a calendar of events for the athletes.
“In addition, we have a group of volunteers and officials who give their time freely for the athletes’ benefit.”
Highland Disability Sport was formed in 1982 in recognition of the barriers faced by people with disabilities in sports participation.
It was formerly known as the Highland Sports Association for People with Disabilities.
