Morgan Boyes says his loan spell at Caley Thistle has got him excited about playing football again.

The former Welsh youth international (pictured) joined Inverness on a temporary deal from Livingston in the summer, and has 14 appearances for the Caley Jags to date.

So far, the 22-year-old is enjoying his time in the Highland capital, and getting the experience of playing week in, week out has proven to be particularly motivating.

"I am back really enjoying my football again," Boyes said.

"The type of football we're playing suits me to a tee. You get the little spark again – it's like when you were a kid in the playground with no pressure and you could just play with your mates.

"I have that feeling again where you can't wait to get playing again with the lads. You go out and put a shift in, and when you come off the pitch with a win it's second to none.

"You can't match that. When that feeling returns, like it has recently, there is no better feeling."

Manager Duncan Ferguson revealed last week that Boyes had been in and out of training with a hip flexor issue, but it has not prevented the defender playing on matchdays and he insists it is not impacting him at the weekend.

That is encouraging for the Caley Jags, with Boyes a key part of a side who have already risen up the Championship table, and will be looking to move closer to the play-off spots with a win against bottom of the table Morton tonight.

Boyes has seen first-hand how quickly fortunes can change in football, and with parent club Livingston struggling themselves in Scotland's top flight, he still believes both clubs can have a positive end to the campaign.

"Our main aim was to get away from the bottom of the table," Boyes said of ICT's form.

"You can't mask it – the start of the season wasn't good. Just before I came here we were struggling, and we're now playing catch-up with the rest of the league.

"If you'd said to people back then how we'd be doing now I don't think they would have believed you.

"So, hopefully Livi can spin that form around and get out of the relegation zone as well.

"I speak to the lads at Livingston nearly every day, but I haven't really spoken to anyone really on the coaching side.

"That's not a bad thing. They are focused on what they are doing and I am focused on my work here.

"Hopefully they can turn that blip around and get off the bottom of the table and keep that security they've had for the past six years to stay in the Premiership.

"They are in a place where they really need to be focused on themselves. It's the same with me here – we're trying to do the best as we can and I'm just focused on that."
