It has been confirmed that the 23-year-old joiner will fight for the Scottish Super Bantamweight Championship against Bellshill boxer Dylan Arbuckle at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Saturday, October 14.

The Inverness City Boxing Club fighter has been ranked among the top two boxers in Scotland to compete for the vacated title after an impressive start to his professional career.

Turnbull, whose nickname is Titanium, has won four professional fights, including one knockout

victory during his career so far.

Now he is relishing the opportunity of competing for the Scottish title and becoming a national champion in front of his hometown crowd.

"I am looking forward to fighting for the title in Inverness," he said.

"From the moment that I turned professional, it is one of the first titles that I wanted to win.

"It has been my ambition to win a national title and I am looking forward to October."

Turnbull admits he will have to produce one of the best performances of his career to become champion against a fighter he has known and respected for years.

"I know Dylan quite well and we used to spar with each other," said Turnbull.

"We have fought for Scotland together and back then he was miles ahead of me.

"When I first started competing for Scotland, he was already on 20 appearances.

"We have had good sparring sessions, but we are going back a few years ago.

"He has improved, but so have I and I will be intrigued to see how the fight goes."

Turnbull has been training at Inverness City Boxing Club for 14 years, starting at the club when he was still at primary school.

He says that he owes a lot to Inverness City Boxing Club head coach Laurie Redfern for how he has progressed during his career.

Redfern has coached a lot of amateur champions during his coaching career, but is still looking for his first Scottish professional champion.

Turnbull says he would love to pay Redfern back for everything he has done for him by becoming his first professional champion.

"The one thing Laurie has always wanted before he decides to call it a day is to have a Scottish professional champion," said Turnbull.

"He has had loads of champions at amateur level in the past, but I would be his first professional champion if I can win the fight.

"I would like to become his first professional champion."

Turnbull says that he has planned out a 12-week training camp in preparation for the title fight in October.

He hopes that if he becomes Scottish champion, it will open new doors of opportunity in the future.

"There is only one thing on my mind, and I will look to take some time to train overseas in preparation for the fight.

"But that is something that I will need to negotiate with work and I think it won't be a problem.

"Once you win a Scottish title, you become a target and there will be good fighters wanting to beat me.

"If I win and defend the title in future fights successfully, it could propel me towards a British title fight and that will be my next aim if I win the Scottish title.

"If I can win the Scottish title, who knows where it can lead me."
