Inverness begin search for new manager

INVERNESS manager Callum McLeod has sensationally quit just three weeks before the start of the new season.
Only last week, McLeod was outlining his plans for the 2013 season and embarking on a busy pre-season, which included matches against Skye and Kinlochshiel.
But on Tuesday McLeod was requested to attend the club’s weekly meeting and after discussions with the club committee tendered his resignation.
Mystery surrounds McLeod’s abrupt departure and chairman Peter Gow did not want to add to club’s official statement, posted on its website on Tuesday evening.
"Inverness Shinty Club wish to confirm first-team manager Callum McLeod has resigned with immediate effect and all first-team players have been informed prior to this statement
"We wish to thank him for his contributions for many years as a player and more recently manager.
"With the new season only weeks away, a new manager is likely to be appointed as soon as possible."
McLeod is a popular and respected figure in the sport and won admiration for his high levels of personal fitness, which enabled him to play up until recently, despite the fact that he is approaching his 50th birthday.
He has had two spells in the Inverness dugout after a highly successful playing career. His first stint ended when a new posting took him away from the city and his second came in mid-season in 2012 after Steve Munro and James MacDougall stood down.

Meanwhile, Inverness’ proposed friendly with Skye in Portree tomorrow has been cancelled following McLeod’s departure.
Elsewhere, the pre-season build-up continues with a host of friendly matches taking place.
Strathglass, playing under the guidance of Calum Duff for the first time, hit the road south to Oban where local club Celtic lie in wait.
In other matches, Beauly take on Glenurquhart, Caberfeidh face Kingussie and Fort William continue with their busy pre-season as they entertain Skye at An Aird.
