Athletic’s first team have an average age of 23 and they will be looking to start their campaign beating the Highland League club’s youth team, who are making their debut in the NCL.

Athletic have relocated to Pavillion Park at Muir of Ord and Golabek is expecting a tough test to open the campaign.

“I’m expecting a tough game and we will be facing a team who are roughly the same ages as our players,” he said.

“It will be a competitive opener for us and I’m not expecting any easy games in the North Caledonian League this season.

“We have a target of what we want to achieve this season and hopefully we can do it, although we’re keeping that to ourselves just now.”

Athletic have played friendlies against Nairn County and Clachnacuddin as well as Invergordon and St Duthus.

Golabek says the biggest result is that they can play football this weekend.

“We’re just glad to be playing at all as we didn’t know if we could this season,” he added.
