Last Saturday Athletic played their final match of the 2022/23 season, defeating Alness United 2-0 thanks to goals from Luke Mackay and Dominic Macaulay.

That guaranteed them at least a seventh place finish at the end of the campaign, and now they have dished out their end of year accolades.

Midfielder Ryan Macleod was the big winner, taking three separate awards in his first season back with the team.

A club record 14 goals was enough to see him finish as Athletic's top goalscorer, which in turn earned him both the player of the year and players' player of the year awards.

Macleod was pushed all the way in the voting by defender Danni Bruce, but there was some consolation for Bruce as he was named the club's young player of the year.

That, too, was competitive, with Cammy McCheyne and Liam Smith being two of the other youngsters who had impressed over the campaign.

The final award dished out was for goal of the season, which went to Connel Greshan for a wonderstrike against Alness United back in September.
