Inverness Athletic are through to the final of the Football Times Cup after a 4-2 win at Bonar Bridge.

Aidan Hersee gave Athletic the lead after eight minutes and they doubled their advantage 10 minutes later through Aiden Grant.

Bonar Bridge pulled one back through Adam Mackay, but Danni Bruce made it 3-1 at half time.

Mackay pulled one back for Bonar but Stephen Rennie scored to make it 4-2.

In the quarter finals, Loch Ness beat Clachnacuddin A 7-1 and Golspie beat Alness 3-1.

In the North Caledonian League, Invergordon beat Fort William 4-3 and St Duthus defeated Thurso 3-1.

Defending North Caledonian League champions Loch Ness will be looking to keep tabs with the early pace-setters in 2023/24 when they take on Alness United this weekend.

Loch Ness are currently behind Invergordon and Fort William, but do have a game in hand over their rivals at the top of the table, so will be desperate to keep that advantage as strong as possible by continuing to put points on the board, starting with tomorrow’s clash with Alness.

Invergordon sit at the summit, but will concede home advantage to Orkney in the earliest kick off of the day.

The islanders could move to within a point of the 2022 champions with a victory as teams continue to jostle for position early in the campaign.

Fort William, meanwhile, will try to bounce back from their first defeat of the season – against Invergordon last time out – when they make the long journey north to Thurso.

The Fort will be strong favourites to pick up three points against a side who have already slipped to the bottom of the standings.

Inverness Athletic are tasked with Halkirk United, who sit fourth in the table but also have a game in hand over the top two.

This weekend’s league programme is then completed by Bonar Bridge, who have already improved on last season’s points tally, taking on St Duthus in Tain.

The scheduled match between Clachnacuddin A and Golspie Sutherland has been postponed due to Golspie’s Scottish Cup first round match against Forres Mechanics.
