INVERNESS Athletic manager Stuart Ross says they are determined to close the gap on North Caledonian League leaders and local rivals Loch Ness tomorrow afternoon.

Third place Athletic, travel to King George V Park in Fortrose, eager to reduce the point gap between themselves and Loch Ness at the top.

Athletic returned to winning ways last week with a 2–1 victory over Thurso at North Kessock.

But they left it late as Ryan Macleod scored twice in the final five minutes to drag them from behind to grab all three points.

Ross, who took charge of Athletic this season, is pleased with how the club have performed so far this season and being in the top half of the table – currently sitting third.

He says victory tomorrow and being the first team to beat Loch Ness in the league is a massive incentive for his players.

“We are not underestimating the task which lies ahead,” said Ross.

“Loch Ness are absolutely flying at the moment and have not dropped many points at all this season.

“We have played at tough venues already this season and we just have to knuckle down, keep ourselves in the game and look to pull off a good result.

“Form goes out the window during derby games, but we are going there with a positive footing.

“Within our squad we have players who have been at Loch Ness and a few of their players have been at Inverness Athletic so that will add a bit of spice to it.”

Athletic will be without Dominic Macaulay who is out with a long term injury with Aidan Hersee also unavailable for tomorrow’s clash.

Elsewhere in the North Caledonian League tomorrow, Clachnacuddin A will look for their third win of the season as they head to Caithness to take on Thurso.

Nairn County A are also in action tomorrow when they face Halkirk United at Riverside Park.

Alness United will look to bolster their title challenge as they face Fort William at Dalmore Park.

Champions Invergordon are set to take on Orkney with St Duthus set to travel to Bonar Bridge.
