Fresh off the back of a 39-medal haul at the Highland Championships, an 11-strong squad from the Highland capital travelled south of the border.

It was a slightly smaller group than had competed in Alness, but it was still an extremely successful event – with Inverness this time claiming 29 medals.

Of those, five were gold medals, 15 were silver and nine were bronze.

The gold medallists were 20-year-old Laura Stewart, who won in forms and bo staff, as well as fellow black belts Arizona Morence (25) in sparring and Emmie Denoon (16) in knife.

Green belt Layla Urquhart also took home a gold, with the 10-year-old winning in forms.

The club’s next major competitions are the Scottish Open and World Championships in June.
