STRIKER Billy Mckay says Inverness Caledonian Thistle coming from behind three times to rescue a point against Partick Thistle could be the confidence booster they need to turn their season around.

An injury-time goal from Kirk Broadfoot earned Inverness a 3–3 draw at the Caledonian Stadium on Wednesday night.

Former Ross County striker Brian Graham scored a hat-trick to put Partick Thistle in front three times, with Mckay, Shane Sutherland and Broadfoot all scoring equalisers during the game.

Inverness have now gone eight games without a win in the Championship, but Mckay says the team will take a lot of positives from how they fought back against Partick.

He believes it showed fighting spirit in the team which can help improve their form and fight for top spot in the Championship.

“We are disappointed that we conceded three goals and that we gave ourselves so much to do,” said Mckay.

“But it shows our spirit that we came back, we’ve not been on the best run, but it feels like an important goal especially with results elsewhere and obviously where Partick are in the league too.

“We kept going and trying to get that win, but I felt overall we were worth the point and maybe should have won.

“If we got that first goal in the second half we would have went on to win. We had a big chance earlier to make it 3-3, it might have gave us a bit of momentum to win the game.

“Broaders has got the equaliser, we haven’t got beat, but we need to keep going and getting the wins.

“To go a goal down
three times during a game
is tough and it can dishearten you, especially with the form that we are in at the minute.

“The lads showed the character to stick together and got the goal that can hopefully be the springboard for us to get the win.”

Mckay made his return to action in the 1-0 defeat to Greenock Morton on Saturday after suffering from a knee injury which kept him out of the previous two matches.

The 33-year-old Northern Ireland international says he is feeling fully fit again and determined to find the goals to boost Caley Thistle’s title bid.

“I am feeling good and was disappointed to miss a couple of games as it was a tweak in my knee.

“But I felt fine coming back on Saturday and then on Wednesday.

“I feel like I was sharper after missing the two games ,and I am happy that I got the goal and helped the team in that way.“

Inverness don’t return to action until next weekend when they welcome Ayr United.

Mckay says it is vital they don’t allow complacency to set in.

“We need to prepare right,” said Mckay.

“We have had a couple of games this week and we’ll get our legs back and leap on to next week to prepare properly and get a good week’s training.”
