TERRY Butcher is confident of securing the services of four of his out of contract stars, but concedes the future of striker Adam Rooney remains uncertain.

Stuart Duff and Kenny Gillet are expected to sign new one-year deals, while youngsters Shane Sutherland and Gavin Morrison have been offered two-year contracts, which it is anticipated they will sign.

Butcher remains hopeful of persuading Rooney to stay for another 12 months, but knows he is competing with other clubs on both sides of the border for his signature.

"We're working with all the players who are out of contract, but we'll have to see about Adam Rooney," he said. "He is probably the only one which is a little bit up in the air just now.

"I have not spoken to any of Adam's representatives, but I don't think it would have mattered the length of deal we offered him, or anything like that.

"We can't offer him the financial rewards other clubs can. For me, however, it doesn't come down to that.

"I just think Caley Thistle and Adam Rooney are a perfect match.

"You look at the way he plays and how he goes about his work, and the way we play. We just seem to suit each other."
