RICHIE Foran began his managerial career in charge of Caley Thistle with a 1-1 draw at Highland League Brora Rangers tonight (Tuesday).

This was both sides' first taste of action this summer and with the Scottish Premiership club kicking off their Betfred Cup at Cowdenbeath in mid-July it was time to get game time started.

Former Aberdeen and Cardiff defender Kevin McNaughton, who has been freed by Wigan Athletic played the first 45 minutes as the left-back as he aim to win a return to Scotland.

Former Deveronvale boss Ally Macleod was on the home sidelines for the game, with their new manager, ex-ICT defender Grant Munro unavailable due to work commitments.

Foran field two entirely different line-ups for each half and another who caught the eye in the first half was new signing, Republic of Ireland under-21 winger Jake Mulraney, who was released at the end of last season by Queens Park Rangers.

He was on the turf several times as his pace and skill asked a number of questions of the home team, who were kept on their toes.

Brora looked nippy too though with ex-Clach striker Paul Brindle twice going close to troubling goalkeeper Ryan Esson.

The first of Foran's signings, Scott Boden, the former Newport County player, was one of those who came out after the break for ICT.

Brora broke the deadlock early in the second half when, after Brindle's effort was blocked by keeper Cameron Mackay, former Nairn County and Alloa Athletic forward Craig Campbell slotted the ball into the net from close range.

Iain Vigurs almost levelled for the Inverness side, but he was superbly denied by Brora goalkeeper Joe Malin.

However, in the closing minutes, Liam Polworth found enough space in a busy box before supplying a low finish into the net after Boden played him in.

Next stop for Foran's top-flight charges is to managerless Nairn County this Thursday night.

ICT first half: Esson, Raven, Brown, Meekings, Trialist, Draper, Maclennan, Wilson, Mulraney, Sutherland, Fisher.

ICT second half: Mackay, Tremarco, Warren, Gilchrist, Horner, Rennie, Robertson, Tansey, Polworth, Boden, Vigurs.
