Alex Iacovitti has signed a new contract to stay at Ross County.

The 24-year-old centre back had been set to become a free agent this summer, but will now remain in Dingwall for the foreseeable future.

Iacovitti has been a mainstay of the Staggies' backline since signing from Oldham Athletic in the summer of 2020, making 75 appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals.

He helped County stay in the top flight in his first campaign at the club, before playing an integral part as the team secured a top six finish for the first time in six years last season.

Now, Iacovitti is set for a third season in the Highlands, and he will hope to keep progressing up the table this time around.

“Alex has been an important player for this club over the past two seasons and was really consistent last season in his level of performance," club manager Malky Mackay told the club's website.

"The way Alex conducts himself, trains and prepares is of a really high standard and it is a major part in why we want to keep him at the club.

“Again, Alex was recruited to the football club two years ago, he has been developed over that period, and is now being rewarded for that development and we look forward to helping him continue to grow next season.”

Iacovitti follows David Cancola in signing a new contract at Ross County this week.
