TIM Chow needed little convincing that Ross County was the right club for him to join.

After a life-long association with Wigan Athletic, the lure of first-team football and progressing his career persuaded him to sign on with the Staggies.

Chow joined the Scottish Premiership club in the last week of August on a two-year deal, as County boss Jim McIntyre sought to replace the midfield drive lost with Jackson Irvine’s departure.

Ties with his boyhood club were always going to be hard to sever – Latics manager Gary Caldwell let him go with a "heavy heart" – but the time and place was right for Chow to move on.

He told the North Star: "It’s a great opportunity. I’ve been at Wigan for a long time and it was time to kick on and forge a career elsewhere. It was a big move, but as soon as I heard about it, I was desperate to get it done. I’ve been there so long and had so many good memories, but it’s the right opportunity at the right time and I couldn’t miss it."
