YOUNGSTERS from Holm Primary were cheered on by 1000 fans when they won a tournament involving 400 other pupils.

The team provided half-time entertainment at the interval of the Glasgow Rocks home game against Sheffield Sharks.

In honour of them winning the Jump2it Inverness shield, Rocks players Jack Burgess and Rory Petrie visited the school to praise the talented side.

“Holm Primary showed real teamwork and determination to win this tournament and it was great to meet them all again,” Burgess said. “I hope they all continue to enjoy the fun that can be had being active playing basketball.”

The school’s depute headteacher Janine Webb said the mixed boys and girls team enjoyed taking part in the tournament, particularly the final at Kelvin Hall against Merkinch.

Other city primaries in the competition were Cradlehall, Central, Hilton, Lochardil, Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis, Crown, St Joseph’s and Bishop Eden’s.
