HIGHLAND’S senior side are once again inactive this weekend with no scheduled league fixture and the final of the North Regional Bowl postponed as they wait for the semi-final between Aberdeen Wanderers and Stornoway to be played.

However, they have been busy off the pitch as the coaching team of Morris Dillon, Alisdair Wemyss and Roy Dinnes are currently putting the squad through the training sessions in the absence of Coach Davie Carson, who is recuperating from a ruptured appendix.

For a second weekend in succession, the younger players look to grab the headlines and tomorrow Highland’s under-18s travel to play Dunfermline in the quarter-final of the Caledonia Youth Cup.

Highland had a good win at Canal Park, possibly their best performance in their league campaign and they will have to replicate that effort to better Dunfermline at McKane Park. The squad is nearly at full strength, but they will be missing the influential Oscar Baird.

On Sunday, Highland’s under-15s return to the pitch after a long lay-off due to a good number of postponed matches.

They travel to play Angus in the Caledonia Cup and this will be a tricky game for Highland as they try to get back on form after the long break.

At Canal Park on the same day, both the minis and micros have the usual 11am training sessions.
