HIGHLAND were in the midst of preparation this week for their final fixture of the league campaign against Aberdeen Wanderers tomorrow when everything was thrown into turmoil.

Wanderers have declared that they cannot play the already rearranged encounter either tomorrow, or the following Saturday, due to a host of factors. It now means they cannot play the fixture before the scheduled season end.

Aberdeen will now have to appear before the Caledonia Regional Committee to have their fate decided, even though they are willing to forfeit the fixture. This could range from a points deduction to expulsion from the league.

As for Highland, they will be glad to have the long, but highly successful season, finish and will hope that whatever fate befalls Wanderers, it does not include the fixture being forced to be played.

Highland’s players would have liked to have played out all of their games as winners and enjoy a final celebration, but the Caledonia League Division Two North, RBS Bowl and North Bowl winners can now relax ahead of starting their summer fitness programme in readiness for next season.

In honour of the senior squads achievements this season, the club is having a big end of season celebration for all players, members and supporters at Bogbain Farm, hosted by coach Bruce MacGregor. A barbecue and screening of the RBS Bowl final will take place on Sunday 18th May and a big turnout is expected.

Touch rugby is likely to be starting up soon for the senior players, but both the minis and micros still have some Sunday sessions to play before they break up for the summer.
