HIGHLAND Rugby Club will host a festive sevens tournament today (Tuesday) – despite fears that it would have to be called off due to water damage at the clubhouse.

The club announced on its Facebook page that it would have to cancel the tournament with a possibility of rearranging it for the weekend.

However, it was soon confirmed that the competition was back on.

The annual event runs all afternoon, beginning with the registration and a welcome port and finishing with a trophy presentation and court sessions. Teams for the event are drawn before kick-off at 1pm.

Meanwhile, looking ahead to 2017, club chairman Andy Little believes that it is shaping up to be a “special year” with work on their new facilities taking off.
