The Highland Wildcats are potentially just one weekend away from being able to call themselves Scottish champions.

So far 2022 has been a fantastic year for the club, who have gone 6–0 through the opening two tournaments of the campaign – including at the Bught last time out.

Now they are set to travel to Hamilton Palace to take on opponents East Kilbride Pirates, Edinburgh Napier Knights and Hamilton Buccaneers knowing that similar success would guarantee that nobody could catch them at the top of the standings.

Given their success so far, a ninth Scottish title would seem a matter of when and not if.

The Wildcats were Scottish champions every year between 2010 and 2015, and then again with back-to-back triumphs in 2018 and 2019.

Further success would see them qualify once again for Britbowl, where they have also tasted success in years gone by.

They have been UK champions three times before, winning the Britbowl final in 2011, 2014 and 2015.

This year’s form would suggest they would be contenders again, with the Wildcats looking unstoppable so far in 2022.
