The Highland Stags booked their place in the 2023 BAFA play-offs with a 35-27 win over the Glasgow Tigers.

They are scheduled to play in the British American Football Association NFC Division One Wildcard Play-offs which kicks off at 1pm.

The Stags have qualified for the play-offs after being undefeated during the regular season as they were crowned BAFA NFC1 Scottish Champions.

In their 10 division games, Highland Stags won nine and drawn one of their matches as they cruised into the British play-offs.

The club have achieved an incredible rise in success in what has only been their second year in competition.

General manager Tom Hutchison says morale is high in the camp and believes if they can maintain their form from this season, they can achieve success in the British play-offs.

“This is our first year in Division One and moving up a level," he said.

“This is the most competitive game we will have played and the Romans will present us with a hard test.

“But we have played tough competition in the Scottish Division and even when we won by big scorelines, they were tough games to win.

“Every time we have had a tough test, we have managed to overcome it and we will look to do the same again on Sunday.”

He added: “We are undefeated this season and we have not lost a regular season game yet.

“What we have done is unheard of, when you get promoted to Division One, you are expected to be at the middle of pack and not challenging to win the division.

“We have only lost one game since we entered the league system and that was in the Division Two final last year. We are the third seed in the NFC and for us to achieve that in our first year in Division One is a great achievement.”
