AFTER securing a place in the RBS Bowl Final, Highland return to league duty tomorrow as the Caledonia League Division Two North welcome Shetland to Canal Park.

With the final taking place on Saturday 19th April, the coaching staff will look to rest several players and give those on the fringe of the squad a chance to show their skills.

Skipper Kevin Brown will be on the bench in order to try and avoid him aggravating a back injury and Gareth High’s heroics in tackling last Saturday is likely to see him rested. Rory Cross suffered a head cut and will be another potential candidate to be given a break.

With good numbers at training, several fringe players will be prepared to step out against the islanders in a game that sees Shetland’s first visit to Canal Park. To accommodate their travelling plans, the match will have an early 11am kick-off.

Also tomorrow, Scottish Rugby Union officials will be on hand to present both the league and North Regional Bowl trophies.

Despite sufficient reason for celebration, it is likely these will be kept low key until after the national final. That final also means Highland’s last league match against Aberdeen Wanderers has been moved to Saturday 3rd May.

On Sunday Highland’s under-13s and under-14s continue their programme of friendly matches as they both welcome Dunfermline to Canal Park.

The Minis are on the road to play in the Kinloss Festival, while it is planned that the micros have their usual training session.
