HIGHLAND now have a three week break in their league programme due to the Autumn Internationals and a cup fixture weekend.

The timing is very inconvenient and such a break is already an issue many clubs are taking up with the SRU.

Highland were very disappointed with their defeat up in Kirkwall to Orkney last Saturday, yet coach Dave Carson is not downhearted as there is still a lot to play for.

The young squad has managed very well to make up for the large number of regular players missing and is continuing to learn and improve.

Although the break will disrupt any continuity it will have the big benefit of allowing players to recover from any niggling injury and reintroduce those back from injury.

The main headache for the coaching staff will be to keep the senior playing pool engaged until the next game away to Morgan Academy on 6th December.

The top side in action this Saturday are Highland’s under-18s as they travel to play another of the title favourites Curry in Edinburgh.

Last Saturday’s defeat to Ayr broke Highland’s unbeaten run and was a tough lesson to bare. Yet Highland are still in the running for the league title and have learnt a lot from the Ayr match.

This match could well determine if Highland will stay in the title race. The only other sides in action this Autumn International weekend are the minis and micros who have their usual 11am Sunday morning sessions.
