HIGHLAND will have to play the waiting game with the weather as they prepare for tomorrow’s game against Strathmore.

With snow and low temperatures forecast over the weekend it is likely that the league programme will once again be badly hit.

Strathmore will be keeping Highland regularly updated on the condition of their pitch and give a timely postponement if required. If the weather relents then the Inverness side will have an unchanged squad ready to make the trip. With Rory Cross making a good comeback for the 2nd XV last Saturday he will be a welcome boost to the back division.

Coach Dave Carson will be confident of securing a vital league win as Highland were clear winners at Canal Park, yet there was enough in that game to show that Highland will have to take care as Strathmore can pose some questions.

The 2nd XV are also on the road as they travel to Ellon and will be very keen to play two games on the trot, adding to their unbeaten record in the league. The weather will also be a factor here as well.

Highland’s under-18s were disappointed in not being able to complete their league campaign last Saturday, which would have allowed them some match-practise ahead of Saturday’s Cup fixture against West of Scotland at Canal Park.

Highland have a good record home and away against West of Scotland over the past two seasons and will look to move on to the semi-finals. This stage promises some new opposition as border clubs are in the cup competition this season.

On Sunday the Mini and Micro sections will keep an eye on the weather to see if the conditions will allow the first training sessions of 2015 to be held at 11am.
