HIGHLAND are just a game away from reaching one of their season’s targets, the North Regional Bowl, when they contest tomorrow’s final against Stornoway.

A win will secure the city club’s second piece of silverware having already won the Brin Cup and also set them on the road to Murrayfield.

Head coach Davie Carson has returned to his coaching duties after his appendix operation and is well enough to travel to Lewis for the final.

He come back to the welcome news of having a near full strength squad to choose from with only the unavailable Nathan McLaughlan missing.

Highland have been given a boost by the return of David Titteringham at centre after a three month injury lay-off. Although he had to pass a fitness test at training last night, James Taylor also looks set to come back into the second row.

On paper, Highland’s squad should be just too strong for the hosts, but as Carson has maintained all season, the players cannot take anything for granted.

A win is also important for another reason as the game is being played as a double-header with the league fixture and victory will extend Highland’s lead at the top of Caledonia League Division Two North.

Highland will travel across to Lewis tonight ready for an early 11am kick-off tomorrow morning. This will allow the squad to travel back home tomorrow afternoon and, hopefully, celebrate a victory in Inverness.

On Sunday, Highland’s under-14s make the journey to play Ellon in a friendly match, while both the minis and micros have their usual 11am training sessions.

Meanwhile, Inverness Craig Dunain are back in action tomorrow with a rearranged fixture away to Aberdeen University Medics in Caledonia League Division Three North.

This will be a difficult trip for Craig Dunain, especially after a long break, while their hosts are currently challenging for the league title.
