Highland League season could be suspended if they are told to do so by Scottish Football Association due to coronavirus pandemic

The Highland League season could be suspended if that is the recommendation of the Scottish Football Association due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But league secretary Rod Houston said yesterday, games will go ahead tomorrow unless they are advised to call matches off, as has happened in leagues across Europe due to the virus.

Highland League club officials met with SFA president Rod Petrie and chief executive Ian Maxwell in Lossiemouth on Tuesday night to discuss how fixtures could be affected.

It was agreed the government would inform the SFA on the situation and then accept recommendations regarding fixtures being played.

Houston says there is the possibility the Highland League could be forced to postpone matches.

But that will only happen if they are told to do so.
