Highland Rugby Club to kick off new season against Watsonians in the Scottish Cup

Highland Rugby Club return to competitive action in the Scottish Cup against Watsonians this weekend.

After pre-season tests against Marr and Edinburgh Academicals, head coach Dave Carson believes his squad are even fitter and stronger than last season, and is quietly optimistic about their chances.

So he says everyone is chomping at the bit to get back into action, believing that their better athleticism will help them improve on the pitch.

“Pre-season can be long and drawn out, we’ve had a couple of warm-up games but when you get into your first competitive game that’s what the hard work is all about,” Carson said.

“Hopefully we’ve done well in preparing for that."
