This year's Snowman Rally is set to have a very strong entry list.

THE second round of this year’s ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship will feature several competitors from the Highlands looking to be successful in the Scottish Borders.

Tomorrow, Jedburgh will play host to the Brick and Steel Border Counties Rally, which comes a month after the opening event of the season — the Snowman Rally in Inverness — was cancelled following the tragic death of a spectator on the first stage.

Four-time Scottish champion David Bogie heads the field as he seeks a third successive victory in the Borders, but set to push him all the way is Euan Thorburn, of Duns, who will have alongside him Inverness co-driver Paul Beaton.

The event has attracted a strong contingent from the north, led by Inverness pair Donnie MacDonald and Andrew Falconer, who will start from seventh place in their Mitsubishi EVO 9.

Immediately behind them are Andy Horne, also from Inverness, with Jim Howie navigating their DAM 4100GTi. The pair finished fourth in Jedburgh two years ago.

Further down the field, Highland duo Dougal Brown and Lewis Roachford are car 20, one place in front of Conon Bridge driver John Morrison and his co-driver Peter Carstairs.
