Highland Budokan's medal haul

HIGHLAND Budokan’s Open event provided rich picking for members of the city club, which in total claimed an impressive tally of 33 medals.

A total of 27 clubs from throughout Scotland attended the tournament at Inverness Leisure with the entry list approaching the 200 mark.

As well as winning nine, gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals, Highland Budokan also won the Player of the Day Shield, Roy Shepherd taking home the prize for his performance in the senior men’s under-81kg category after finishing on top of the podium.

In the under-12 age group, Josie Steele won gold in the girls under-36kg section — a feat repeated by Douglas Murray in the boys under-50kg class.

Hannah Kerr was another Budokan member to achieve a first place, her one coming in the under-16 girls under-36/40kg category, while David Kerr claimed two golds for his efforts in the boys under-73kg and open section in the same age group.

The Inglis sisters — Stephanie and Stacey — came top in the under-52/57kg and under-63kg senior women’s categories respectively with Duncan Seaton completing the gold medal haul in the senior men’s under-60 kg division.

Other medal winners for the club were as follows:

Silver — Libby Anderson (under-12 girls, open); Jordan McClymont (under-12 boys, under-30kg); Quinn Delves (under-12 boys, under-46kg); Aimee Grant (under-16 girls, under-36/40kg); Chris Mota (under-16 boys, under-55kg); Michael Maclennan (under-16 boys, under-73kg); Lauren Sturrock (senior women, open); Ross Campbell (senior men, under-60kg); Duncan Seaton (senior men, under-60-66kg); Mark Mapplebeck (senior men, under-100kg).

Bronze — Hannah Murray (under-12 girls, under-32kg; under-16, under-32kg); Ryan Macdonald (under-12 boys, under-27kg); James Burton (under-12 boys, under-30kg); Max Provan (under-12 boys, under-34kg); Lewis McGillvray (under-12 boys, under-38kg); Daniel Hutcheson (under-12 boys, under-38kg); Nathan Van Horrik (under-12 boys, under-42kg); Robbie Macilraith (under-12 boys, under-46kg); Linus Brulisauer (under-12 boys, under-46kg); Ross Campbell (senior men, under-60/66kg); Ramsay Darling (senior men, under-81kg); John Haslam (senior men, under-81kg); Paul Mapplebeck (senior men, under-90kg).
