FORT William boss Ally Ewen is demanding a performance to match last season’s sensational 4-3 Highland League win against Deveronvale when the Banffers return to Claggan Park this Saturday.

The West Highlanders and ’Vale were both on the end of humiliating 8-1 defeats last weekend against Wick Academy and Formartine United respectively.

And Ewen expects Ally MacLeod’s men to be under pressure to net a result – and to come at Fort all guns blazing.

He said: "The win at home last season was one of the most memorable games since I joined the club. Iain Foggo played most of the game in goal after Robin Harvey got injured.

"But we never lay down and I’ll be looking for that sort of performance again this time.

"I think they’ll be quite confident of getting the result but we want to put some points on the board."

He added: "I was quite surprised by their result at the weekend. Deveronvale have got a good team and made some tremendous signings over the summer.

"Their players are very experienced in the Highland League.

"I think they could be under a wee bit of pressure to get a result against us after that. We’ll have more experience back in the squad."

Skipper Martin Kerr will be in the squad for the first time this season, while Darren Quigg, Iain Foggo and Craig Mainland should all be available.

Goalkeeper Dougie MacLennan is expected to miss out after his ankle injury flared up again during the warm up on Saturday.
