Inverness Caledonian Thistle are still looking for their first win in the Championship as they went down to a late goal against Raith Rovers at Stark's Park.

Jamie Gullan scored the winner four minutes from time to consign Inverness to their fourth defeat in five league matches.

Inverness remain bottom of the table, two points behind Ayr United who are in ninth place.

Inverness have yet to win a match in their five games in the Championship and have now gone eight games without a win in all competitions.

Former Inverness Royal Academy pupil Robbie Thompson made his first start in the Championship for Caley Thistle, following on from his start in the Trust Trophy against Arbroath last week.

Despite no goals in the first half, Inverness created plenty of chances to take the lead, only to be denied by a string of great saves by Raith goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski.

Inverness thought they took the lead midway through the first half when Danny Devine nodded home a free kick from Cameron Harper. But the referee ruled the goal out for foul play in the box.

Inverness created a number of chances before the break with Charlie Gilmour, Max Anderson and Morgan Boyes all forcing Dabrowski to pull off great saves to keep the score at 0-0.

Raith Rovers started brighter in the second half with Mark Ridgers doing well to block an effort from Lewis Vaughn.

The game threatened to play out a goalless draw until four minutes from time when the ball fell kindly to Gullan in the box.

He fired a low drive into the bottom left corner of the net past Ridgers to give Raith victory.
