INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle head coach Billy Dodds says he is looking to bring in one more player into his squad before the end of the transfer window.

Striker Joe Hardy from Accrington Stanley became the third loan signing in the January transfer window to arrive at Inverness yesterday.

His arrival follows forward Logan Chalmers arriving from Dundee United and winger Sam Pearson from Bristol City, who both made their debuts against Dunfermline Athletic last week.

Inverness have lost the services of forward Lewis Jamieson, who ended his loan and returned to St Mirren, and Anthony MacDonald who left the club to join League Two outfit Edinburgh City earlier this month.

Dodds says he is now on the hunt for one more addition to the squad before the transfer window ends.

“We are looking to get one more, if we can,” confirmed Dodds.

“We needed more pace in the team and we have got that in wide areas now with Sam Pearson and Logan Chalmers coming here.

“We now have an extra dimension to our attacking third.

“It’s not that our players were not doing well but we needed competition for places.

“That gives the other players a wee shove, so they know they have to keep performing or they could lose their place. That’s what I want here, healthy competition, which is great.

“We lost a couple of wingers, so it is great to get a couple of wingers in.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, Dodds says he is pleased with how his new signings have fitted into the squad and hopes they can make a big contribution in the second half of the campaign.

“It’s certainly not just for numbers. From what I’ve seen, Logan Chalmers has unbelievable technical ability. He is quick, direct and can score goals.

“Hopefully he has the X-factor, where he can offer us that extra part in the final third.

“Some of what I’ve seen from Logan in training excites me.

“Sam Pearson looked great when he came on last week. I can see this week he has been really well coached.

“He has a brilliant appetite for the game.

“He has a brilliant attitude and offers a lot of brilliant technical ability. He has been a real find.

“They have to do it on the pitch, of course, but we have a couple of really good ones.”

Striker Billy Mckay has been described as touch and go whether he will be available for tomorrow’s clash at Kilmarnock after picking up an injury before the game at Dunfermline last week.

Defender Danny Devine went for a scan yesterday after he left Dunfermline in crutches last week after picking up an injury and was due to find out how long he will be out for. Roddy MacGregor and Aaron Doran are also expected to miss tomorrow’s clash through injury.
