The 20-year-old, who has traditionally played left-back for Inverness, has found himself switched to the left wing in recent games, including in the 1–1 draw at Dunfermline Athletic last weekend.

It is a role he was was more accustomed to playing youth football, only finding himself becoming more of a defensive player as he grew older and going on to break into the first team squad.

But he has no problem reliving his teenage years by playing on the wing, grateful he is being given a chance to show what he can do in the first team.

“I don’t mind it, back in the youth days, I started as a left winger and moved back,” he said.

“It is getting used to it again is the main thing, knowing where to be during a game.

“But I am enjoying as there more of a chance of scoring goals.

“But I am happy to be playing anywhere as long as I am playing to be honest.”

Despite Caley Thistle being second in the table and only three points behind leaders Arbroath, they have failed to win their last five matches and drawn their last four.

Harper says if they want to be in contention to win the Championship this season, they know they have to turn things around quickly, starting at Kilmarnock tomorrow.

“The last four games have been draws, it is good we are not losing, but you want to be winning and putting yourself up there,” he said.

“The last few weeks the boys have been frustrated and video sessions we frustrated we keep drawing.

“We want to every game, we need to start turning the draws into wins to get ourselves where we want to be.

“I don’t think I have experienced a league where there are so many teams up there and have a chance, but we need to focus on ourselves and start turning these draws into wins to get up there.

“We know in ourselves what we need to do to get ourselves there, there is still belief from the coaching staff and we will go about our business.”
