RICHIE Foran doesn’t regret for one moment hanging up his boots to become boss of Caley Thistle.

The former club captain penned a four-year deal in May to succeed Scottish Cup-winning manager John Hughes, who bowed out of the club after a fall-out over budgets.

Fans might have expected the 36-year-old, whose playing CV includes years at Shelbourne, Carlisle, Motherwell and Southend, to have combined both roles.

However, he’s deadly serious about getting this job right and he’s putting his full focus on making the group of players he was team-mates with until a couple of months ago winners.

So, does as the league season draws closer, does he miss the buzz of playing?

He told the HN: "I am not missing playing one bit. Not one bit did I miss pre-season. I was on holiday for a week and there were four or five footballers in my hotel and I was watching them going to the gym every morning, while I was sitting on my sun lounger. I enjoyed every minute of that and I will enjoy every minute of it for some time to come. I am embracing this chance. I have said from the start that I am going to enjoy it. I am not going to beta myself up, there’s no point doing that in this job after every training session. You will get good and bad days. You have to deal with it and stay balanced."
