While Ross County's first team will be taking time to assess this weekend ahead of their Premiership run-in, one of the club's youngsters out on loan will be travelling to Hampden Park.

Matthew Wright is out on loan at Falkirk, who take on the Staggies' Highland rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle in tomorrow's Scottish Cup semi final.

Although yet to score for the Bairns, Wright did start their quarter final victory over Ayr United and will hope to be involved at the national stadium this weekend.

Still just 20 years old, it is an opportunity that not many others his age get, and the prospect of scoring against County's biggest rivals makes it all the sweeter.

"It's a special occasion and one I'm really looking forward to," Wright said.

"I've played at Hampden for Montrose against Queen's Park before, but this will be a whole different atmosphere. To be part of this is something every boy dreams of.

"To be honest, I couldn't have imagined this when I signed in January, but we're here now and hopefully we can get the job done.

"Obviously playing Inverness, there's that added incentive for me, and it would be even better to score against them."

Wright has already made a mark in Dingwall, memorably scoring a very late equaliser against Rangers in January of last year.

However, the minutes he has played in League One this year will still have done him the world of good.

"It's been a bit different moving from Ross County full time, it's the first time I've gone to a new place in my career," Wright explained.

"It's been enjoyable here at Falkirk. I knew that there was a lot of competition for places, and that's why I wanted to come so I can fight for my spot in the team.

"It's incredible to get the experience of a Scottish Cup semi final and a push for promotion so early in my career. I haven't scored the goals I would have liked to yet, but my overall game has definitely improved.

"Playing more men's football – over 30 games in League One between Montrose and Falkirk – has been excellent for me.

"I haven't started every game, but that's a learning curve itself. You might not start every game in football so you need to show why you should be in the team, and recognise that you're a part of something and make a big impact when I do come on."
