ACHIEVING a second consecutive bonus point success is the challenge being put down to Highland’s players as they prepare for tomorrow’s league match away to Glenrothes.

If the Greens harbour hopes of finishing the season with honours, these are games they must prevail in if they hopes to keep pace with the likes of Orkney, Aberdeenshire and Strathmore — the three teams currently above them in Caledonia Region League Division One.

David Ramsay has aggravated his back injury and is likely to be rested for Highland this weekend, but this will leave a space for Andy Hill to come in at full back with Tam Magowan switching to the centre.

Jamie MacDonald and Euan Watson are in contention for a place in the in the squad, while Chris Aldam is back in light training as he steps up his recovery from the leg break he suffered last season.

Ryan McLaughlan, however, is facing up to an extended spell on the sidelines with a neck problem, while Rory Cross is struggling with his back.

The Reds are back in action after a two-week break and make the short trip to the Naval Ground in Invergordon to play Ross Sutherland 2nd XV. Highland’s under-18s should also be travelling to Ross Sutherland, but this game taking place will depend on whether the home side can raise a team.

On Sunday, three of the city club’s junior sides are scheduled to be involved in matches.

The under-16s entertain Orkney, although this match going ahead may depend on available travel arrangements. The under-14’s entertain the Dundee Eagles, while the under-13s welcome Aberlour House.

Highland’s mini section has had a change of plans as they now travel to compete in the Ross Sutherland Mini Festival, but the micros have their usual training session at Canal Park.
