SCOTTISH League Cup winners Ross County remain firmly on the course for a top six finish after earning a 1-1 draw at St Johnstone tonight (Wednesday).
Just four days after clinching the national silverware for the first time with a 2-1 Hampden victory against Hibs, the Dingwall side found themselves a goal down early on when David Wotherspoon volleyed a shot high into the net.
The Staggies made three changes from Sunday.
Jonathan Franks, Brian Graham and on-loan Aberdeen forward David Goodwillie were handed starts, with League Cup match-winner Alex Schalk dropping to the bench alongside Liam Boyce and Richard Foster.
St Johnstone, whose boss Tommy Wright was missing due to illness, were managed by assistant Callum Davidson.
County did everything but score in the first half with Brian Graham and David Goodwillie going close.
However, Graham, who made a real difference to the Staggies on Sunday, equalised from the penalty spot after substitute Liam Boyce was taken down in the box.
The result keeps both teams in joint fourth position on 40 points, although some of the chasing pack just out of the top six have a game in hand.
For County, they can now look forward to Saturday's home Highland derby against a Caley Thistle side, who crashed out of the Scottish Cup in a 2-1 replay defeat against Hibs ending their hopes of retaining the trophy.
The parade of the Scottish League Cup kicks off after that game through Dingwall at 5.15pm.
