KIERAN MacKay has claimed victory at the Inverness Four Day Open for the second time in his career.
Celebrating his 27th birthday on Friday, the Inverness golfer gave himself an early present when he beat Fortrose and Rosemarkie golfer Lewis Reid 3/2 in the final on Thursday afternoon..
MacKay, who first won the trophy back in 2016, says it was a great feeling to win it for the second time.
“I was pleased with how I played throughout the whole matchplay section of the tournament,” he said.
“I was up against good opponents in the matchplay section, so I had to play well to win.
“There were a lot of good names in the draw so I was delighted to get through it and win.
“I expected the final to go the whole way as Lewis is a good player, but I am delighted it didn’t go the whole way in the end.”
After finishing second on the qualifying leaderboard on Tuesday, MacKay overcame Steven Paterson from Inverness 5/3 in the last 16.
In the quarter final stage, he defeated Bruce Thomson from Nairn Golf Club 2/1.
He was then involved in an epic semi final with former champion David Joel, as he claimed victory by one up after the match went all the way to the 18th hole.
