The 23-year-old shot stopper played his final game for the club by keeping a clean sheet in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Wick Academy at Station Park.

Counsell joined Nairn County on loan from Brora Rangers in November 2019 before he made the move permanent two months later making 14 appearances for the club.

Speaking on the Nairn County website, director of football Graeme Macleod said: “Will could not have finished on a better note with us by keeping our first clean sheet of the season in midweek, when he made a number of great saves to contribute towards our win.

"He also had a solid showing in last Saturday’s draw at Keith.

“We would all like to thank Will for all his efforts in his time with the club and to wish him all the best for his future.

"He will be welcome back to Station Park to support his former teammates anytime he is back in the area.”
