The Drumnadrochit outfit received the accolade after being one of the clubs who reactivated shinty in a positive and inclusive fashion, ensuring opportunities were available for the whole community to return to shinty following the pandemic.

Some of the achievements which led to Glenurquhart receiving the award included player Connor Golabek, sponsored by members and actively supported by other players, running seven marathons in sven days to raise in excess of £7000 for the Highland Hospice.

Glenuruqhart handed over a cheque for £1030 to Glenurquhart Care Centre which had been raised in the annual fund-raising event held over the festive period.

In September, after months of discussion and compromise , the club agreed a legally binding 99-year lease for Blairbeg Park from Glenurquhart Rural

Community Association.

The agreement not only secures Blairbeg Park as the home of Glenurquhart shinty Club for the foreseeable future but it is also the foundation of a strong working relationship with a key community partner.

Glenurquhart also ended the season with over 100 youth members on their books, which is a record for the Club, and in addition 91 adult club voting members.

Camanachd Association president Steven MacKenzie said: "The growth in membership that they have achieved following on from the pandemic, as well as the community initiatives and charity fundraisers run in 2021 by the club make them more than worthy winners.”
