Even at a young age, Thorp is already a regular in the Northern Counties side in North of Scotland competition.

Across 13 matches in 2023, he has taken 19 wickets at an average of 12.68 runs, with his best bowling figures of the year coming in the Scotland-wide Challenge Cup match against Crescent, where he took 5-23.

Scotland are due to play twice this week, against Cheshire and Derbyshire.

At the time of writing, the match against Cheshire is in progress, with Thorp bowling three overs before rain interrupted play with Cheshire sitting on 113-2 after 23 overs, and the match has not yet resumed.

The youngster made his debut in the competition with Scotland last year, when they took on Yorkshire, Northumberland and Lincolnshire.
