Winners Lovat celebrate their RBS MacTavish Cup victory against Glenurquhart at the Bught Park in Inverness.

GLENURQUHART will be hoping to put the disappointment of last weekend’s MacTavish Cup final behind them when they face Newtonmore on Orion Group Premiership business at The Eilan this Saturday.

Having beaten ’More on their way to the final, Glen should be confident of a decent result against the reigning champions which would be the perfect tonic ahead of their Camanachd Cup quarter-final against Inveraray the following week.

Fresh from their impressive MacTavish Cup-winning performance, Lovat will be firm favourites to account for a Lochaber team rapidly running out of games to preserve their top-flight status.

Lovat were 5-1 winners when they travelled to Spean Bridge in mid-March and look in good shape to replicate that result.

Kinlochshiel have Kingussie as their visitors to Kirkton and will be hoping to pick up at least a point to ease their relegation concerns. Kings were 1-0 winners when the teams met at The Dell in March.

Old Anniesland in Glasgow is the venue for the AJG Parcels Celtic Society Cup final, the South of Scotland senior championship. This will be a repeat of last year’s final which Kyles Athletic won on penalties against Inveraray.

Caberfeidh and Beauly now both appear to be out of contention for the Marine Harvest National Division title, but their meeting at Castle Leod on Saturday will be far from being a tame affair.

Matches between these rivals are always keenly fought as their last meeting at Braeview Park highlighted. A 1-1 draw was the outcome of that fixture in March and the result of Saturday’s encounter could prove just as tight.

Kilmallie and Fort William go head-to-head at Canal Park in one of the day’s most attractive pairings. Fort are the only unbeaten team in the National Division, with Kilmallie’s only defeat being a 3-1 loss to Fort last month. Defeat for either could prove costly to their title prospects.

Marine Harvest North Division One leaders Skye will be protecting a 100 per cent league record when Strathglass head west to Portree.

Although their last meeting in early May was a close affair with Skye advancing to the semi-finals of the Balliemore Cup after a 1-0 victory at Cannich, Strath are going through a difficult patch and will do well to shock the islanders.

The reserve teams of Beauly and Glenurquhart meet at Braeview Park in a mid-table encounter, whilst at The Dell the second strings of Kingussie and Newtonmore clash.
