STRATHGLASS have home advantage in tomorrow’s MacDonald Cup clash with Glenurquhart.

The Glen, as holders and also as a Premier Division side, go into the match as favourites, but will be some way short of fielding their strongest side with at least three first choice players missing.

Injury robs them of Eddie Tembo and Ali MacKintosh, while David Girvan is still short of match fitness after a long lay-off with a knee injury.

The match is the first test for the Glen’s new management team of Drew MacNeil and Fraser MacKenzie with the Glen supporters optimistic that the pairing can take the club into a challenging position in 2012.

Strathglass have persuaded Robert Geddes, the most successful manager in the club’s history, to return to the Cannich dugout after he stepped down two season’s ago.

Despite their poor showing in last season’s North Division One, Strathglass will provide a stern test and last year were edged out in a 1-0 defeat by Glenurquhart after going into the match as massive underdogs.

The Ally Bhan Cup for the club’s under-21 players will also take place with the Glen holding on to the trophy 12 months ago courtesy of a 3-2 win.

Meanwhile, Inverness head to Oban to defend the Robert Whylie trophy, which they lifted following a fine 4-3 win over Oban Celtic last season.

This will be a dress rehearsal for the clubs who were drawn against each other in the first round of the Balliemore Cup.

In other pre-season friendlies, Lovat entertain Lochaber and Skye are up against reigning Premier Division champions Newtonmore. However, Beauly’s proposed friendly against Kilmallie has had to be postponed after a bereavement at the Kilmallie club.
