Glasgow football club confirm they are changing their name to Caledonian Thistle

A North Glasgow football club have confirmed that they are changing their name to Caledonian Thistle Football Club.

West of Scotland League First Division outfit Rossvale have announced they are changing their name to Caledonian Thistle Football Club.

The club says after 13 seasons being known as Rossvale, they have received approval from the West of Scotland Football League and are now awaiting SFA approval to change their name.

The club says they are changing their name after playing football out of Petershill Park in Springburn, they want to integrate with the area and have a stronger connection with the community.

They want to change their name to represent the memory of the Caledonian Railway Locomotive Works that was based in the area.

Rossvale are currently bottom of the West of Scotland First Division.
